LAMDA tuition towards Acting grades
At Ignite Theatre, we tutor towards LAMDA Acting Exams as part of the sessions.
LAMDA is one of the UK’s oldest and most respected drama schools and awarding organisations. At Ignite, we believe that being tutored for LAMDA exams alongside the performance work we produce is a fantastic balance between broadening skills both creatively and formally.
At Ignite we will advise which grade pupils should focus on, thinking about prior experience as well as content appropriateness. Each week, we will dedicate time within the session to focus on scripted monologues or duologues in order for pupils to experiment with different styles and genres until committing to their choices and then preparing for exams (summer term).
We offer tuition from grade 3 upwards.
What do I need to do for a LAMDA Acting Exam?
Level 1 Grade 3
One Set piece Monologue / Duologue and 1 Own choice monologue
Answering questions related to their performance
Solo: 15 minutes, Duologue: 20 minutes, Combined: 25 minutes
Level 2 Grade 4 and 5
One Set piece Monologue / Duologue and 1 Own choice monologue
Answering questions related to their performance
Solo: 20 minutes, Duologue: 30 minutes, Combined: 35 minutes
Level 3 Grade 6, 7 and 8
Performing two own choice scenes at Grade 6 and three scenes at Grades 7 and 8. Scenes must be selected from a published play or television/film screenplay, within specified time periods
Answering questions related to their performance
Grade 6: Solo: 25 minutes, Duologue: 35 minutes
Grade 7: Solo: 30 minutes, Duologue: 40 minutes
Grade 8: Solo: 30 minutes, Duologue: 45 minutes
